Christmas 2008

Sick baby Luke

Since Thanksgiving I haven't had time to update my blog at all. This Thanksgiving, Charlie and I cooked the turkey. We ordered an organic turkey from California. We brined it and it came out very delicious.
After Thanksgiving, Lukie was very sick. I remember that he was snoring on the night of December 7th, and the next day he started to cough. I took him to see his pediatrician the following day, but it was too soon for the doctor to know what was wrong. He still seemed okay and was running around like usual, but he had a runny nose. After his nap he cried and didn't want to get up. He couldn't eat anything much after that.

From Monday to Friday, his symptoms got worse. In addition to his lack of appetite, he had a slight fever. I called the doctor again and made another appointment.

The doctor said Lukie had an ear infection. Inside his right ear was red. In the doctor's office, Lukie cried very hard until he fell asleep on my shoulder. Poor baby Lukie. When I put him in the car seat to go back home he just slept so deep and continued sleeping even when we got home and I put him on the bed.

Lukie had to take antibiotics for 10 days. First I was worried that it was going to be very difficult but the medicine was "bubble gum flavor". Lukie seemed to like it.

It took about 2 weeks for him to fully recover. While Lukie was getting better, his Grandma, Uncle Paul and I were sick. I had stomach flu. Oh boy, what can I say? My son was sick, and so was I, but I had to be strong. I almost passed out, too. It was the first time I had gotten stomach flu.

Anyway, everyone felt better by Christmas week. Lukie was so excited to see all his uncles and everybody. The first present he opened on Christmas day was from Yai Yai. It was a little Thomas the train. He loves Thomas. He didn't even care to open any of his other presents until later.

Again, Lukie got a lot of present this Christmas. Very lucky kid.

Mommy is happy to see Lukie feeling better again. Now I know that no mother likes to be sick while her kid is sick, too.
